# Inherited Variant Tagging

#### **Overview**

The Inherited Variant Tagging allows users to connect products from the same model - i.e., variants - ensuring consistent tags across them. When enabled, this feature automatically assigns (inherits) the same tags to all variants of a product, except for non-inheritable tags defined by the user. This functionality applies specifically to **Automatic Tagging** and **Collection Processing** mode.

#### How It Works

The system identifies variants using the “root\_sku” field, which should be the same for all variants of a product. Once a variant with a particular root\_sku is tagged, all other variants with the same root\_sku inherit the tags. Additionally, when updating or verifying a variant, all other variants will inherit changes to inheritable tags.

By default, this setting is disabled. To enable it, inform your designated contact and provide the following:

#### **Requirements**

* **Definition of root\_sku handling:**
 * Separate variant sku: Upload the root\_sku with the product information.
 * No separate variant sku: Derive it as a prefix/suffix from the product sku. Share details with Pixyle on identification.
* Definition of inheritable and non-inheritable tags. By default non-inheritable tags are:
 * colors,
 * pattern,
 * material,
 * style,
 * occasion,

#### **Benefits**

* **Consistency:** Ensures uniformity in tags across products of the same variant.
* **Efficiency:** Reduces manual tagging by automating consistent tagging across variants.
* **Customization:** Allows users to define tags unique to each product, offering flexibility.
